Great to “meet” you! I’m Heather - the one behind the camera, emails, phone calls, website - everything related to running this small business. I grew up in the Midwest, lived in Texas for a decade, and now call Tacoma, WA home.

I’m a friendly introvert who… definitely gets more energetic after the coffee kicks in. (Ha!!) I was drawn to cameras and art in general as a child, studied my grandparent’s collection of National Geographic magazines and dreamed of traveling, saved up my allowance to buy film… I’m pretty lucky to pursue this as my full time job now.

When I’m not working, you can find me tending my garden, cuddling a chicken (chickens are the BEST), baking gluten free treats with my kids, or adventuring with my husband. I love trying new foods, learning more DIY skills, supporting fellow small local businesses, and exploring new-to-me places. I dream of backpacking around the world and hiking the Pacific Rim when the kids are grown.

Hi! I’m glad you’re here.

Values

I will not tolerate racism, homophobia, sexism, religious discrimination, or discrimination of any other form. I actively work to honor each person exactly as they are. I believe our stories are powerful, precious, and immeasurably important.
In a world that is becoming increasingly harmful toward the marginalized, there’s no room to tolerate less than treating each other with the utmost dignity, respect, and kindness.

I aim to create images that feel honest & tell a story of where you’re at in this moment and do so by encouraging lots of connection between you and your people. This is a relaxed approach to portraits called “lifestyle photography” – asking questions, prompts for gentle posing, and suggestions on ways to play and have fun together! We spend very little time on traditional structured posing and encourage LOTS of movement for small children.

Locations are chosen based on spaces that hold meaning to you so it’s not just a pretty photo – there are roots in your real life, right now. Gentle posing helps flatter while coaxing genuine interactions and smiles. This approach is a great fit for families with small children, people who may feel nervous or uncomfortable in a more structured/posed session, and anyone who prefers an unposed approach to photography. I also have personal experience with Autism & sensory accommodations. Please let me know in advance if there are specific ways I can support you and your family best while we’re together!

I do not offer significant retouching; rather we work together to create flattering portraits in camera (light retouching such as blemish removal is always included). I have taken courses dedicated to flattering curves and am always seeking continued education to make my clients feel confident and celebrated.
